Worcestershire has announced the departure of Josh Cobb following a single season under a white-ball contract at New Road. During his tenure, Cobb recorded one half-century across 12 T20 and one List A appearances for the club. The Pears have additionally chosen not to extend a new contract offer to young player Olly Cox. Cobb, a 34-year-old all-rounder and son of former Foxes player Russell Cobb, previously played for Leicestershire and Northamptonshire before joining Worcestershire in January. Cobb secured two T20 titles, initially with Leicestershire in 2011, and later earning man of the match honors in the final when Northants claimed victory in 2016. In 2024, he accumulated 271 runs at an average of 22.58 over 12 T20 Blast matches, including one half-century against Lancashire. Worcestershire concluded the North Group in second-to-last position. His sole List A appearance occurred in August’s One-Day Cup, also against Lancashire, following a period of illness that kept him out of play. Cox, aged 20, initially signed his rookie contract in 2023. He marked his senior debut that year by scoring 63 in a T20 match against the touring New Zealand side, and his contract was subsequently prolonged for an additional year. However, his only senior game in 2024 was during the One-Day Cup warm-up fixture against Wales.
