Prop Donna Rose, who has earned 27 caps for Wales, will be absent for the remainder of the current season, which includes Wales’ 2025 Six Nations campaign, as a result of a neck injury. Her club, Saracens, confirmed that the forward underwent neck surgery, which will sideline Rose for the duration of the 2024-25 league season. The 33-year-old athlete communicated via social media that she anticipates a prolonged period of recovery. Rose stated on Instagram, “Hard one to take missing the rest of the season, especially as there’s the potential to have a final at home.” Rose had previously been out of action for a year of her career after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament tear and a meniscus tear during one of her initial training sessions with Saracens, following the postponed Rugby World Cup in 2022. She has also openly discussed her experiences living and competing with borderline personality disorder. Saracens currently hold the third position in Premiership Women’s Rugby, trailing leaders Exeter Chiefs by seven points. Rose, who affirmed her commitment to remaining Saracens women’s “biggest supporter” for the remainder of the season, also conveyed thanks to individuals who had provided support, informing her followers that she was being discharged from the hospital. She stated, “Thank you all for the messages and the sport, goes a long way,” and beneath an image of herself in a hospital bed, she added: “Drains out and heading home later.”
