Braintree Town, currently contending with relegation in the National League, has announced Steve Pitt as its new manager. Pitt steps into the role previously held by Angelo Harrop, who was recently dismissed. Pitt served as Harrop’s assistant at the club from the summer of 2022 until December of last year. Karl Duguid is set to become Pitt’s assistant, with Phil Coleman taking on the position of first-team coach. Justin Moseley, who temporarily managed the team after Harrop’s departure, declined an offer to remain with Pitt’s coaching staff and has chosen to exit the club. “I’m honoured and privileged to take on the role of first-team manager and will now look to build on the foundations that Angelo has already laid,” Pitt stated. The team, known as the Iron, currently sits 19th in the league standings, positioned only one point clear of the relegation zone. Harrop, who assumed his position in May 2022, led Braintree to promotion last season following a 4-3 victory against Worthing in the National League South play-off final. However, his tenure concluded after the club secured only five wins in 20 games this season.
