Leicester manager Amandine Miquel has confirmed that Noemie Mouchon will miss the remainder of the season after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Mouchon had made three Women’s Super League (WSL) appearances for Leicester this season. The 21-year-old, who transferred to Leicester from Reims in July, incurred the injury during a training session. She represents the most recent athlete in the Women’s Super League to experience an ACL injury this season, following Everton players Aurora Galli and Inma Gabarro, and Liverpool’s Sofie Lundgaard. On Thursday, Miquel stated: “We weren’t sure straight away, but we have now assessed the injury to Noemie Mouchon. It’s probably the longest injury she could have.” She further added: “We can’t say a time right now but she’ll be out for the season.” The French forward, Mouchon, acknowledged her injury on Instagram on Friday, remarking: “Nothing will stop the love I have for football.” She also appended: “Nothing is insurmountable and everything is possible, so the best is yet to come.” Mouchon’s injury constitutes an additional setback for Leicester, as the club is already without Jutta Rantala and Lena Petermann, their leading two goalscorers from the previous season, also due to injuries.
