Rangers manager Philippe Clement shared his thoughts following the 2-1 defeat against Aberdeen. He stated: “We started the game well, but when Aberdeen took over and we were struggling, we went behind and I made changes.” Clement noted that his team emerged strongly in the second half, actively pursuing a victory throughout. He observed: “We came out in the second half in a really good way, we were the team pushing for the win all second half.” Despite frequent incursions into Aberdeen’s penalty area, he pointed out a deficiency in clinical finishing in the final third, while Aberdeen secured the decisive goal. Clement expressed his disappointment, saying: “We were much more times in their box but weren’t clinical enough in the final third. They scored the decisive goal.” He added: “It’s disappointing to lose the three points here. On a really lucky night we could have won this game. It’s about taking lessons out of this.” The manager described the performance as one of the new squad’s better displays, yet acknowledged it was insufficient for a positive result, indicating ongoing areas for development. He clarified: “It’s one of the better performances from this new squad but it was not good enough in the result, there’s still a lot to work on.” Clement concluded by asserting: “You can’t say [the players] played a bad game today, but we need to work on things to make it better.” He also felt that Aberdeen were not the superior team on the day, suggesting that a draw would have been a more equitable outcome for both sides: “Today Aberdeen were not the better team to win, it was a game both teams deserved a point each.” Post navigation Mikel Arteta Addresses Arsenal Injuries, Tierney’s Return, and Jesus’s Status Ahead of Champions League Match Clann Eireann Secures Ulster Title Retention with Victory Over Lurgan
