Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has stated that the club’s squad members are prepared to “step up” and will encounter no difficulties in adjusting to the tactical approach of incoming manager Ruben Amorim. Manchester United confirmed the appointment of the Sporting manager as their new head coach last week, with Amorim scheduled to commence his duties on November 11. Interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has employed the 4-2-3-1 formation, a system favored by Erik ten Hag, during his two matches at the helm. Amorim, who has primarily utilized a 3-4-3 formation throughout his coaching career, orchestrated a 4-1 triumph against Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday. Onana commented on Amorim’s recent success, saying, “I did watch the game yesterday, it was a great victory for them.” Regarding the tactical shift, he added, “It’s a different system but my team-mates are all pragmatic. I think everyone here is capable of playing in each system so I don’t think this will be an issue for us.” He further emphasized the team’s readiness, stating, “We have big players, they will step up.” Manchester United is set to host Greek champions PAOK on Thursday, aiming for their inaugural victory in this season’s Europa League campaign. Leny Yoro, a £52m acquisition from Lille last summer, participated in full training on Wednesday, having sustained a foot fracture in August. The French player has not yet made his competitive debut for the club. Interim manager Van Nistelrooy remarked on Yoro’s recovery: “He’s been managed very well after his injury in pre-season, obviously we knew it was going to be a long one.” He also noted the significance of the milestone, stating, “It’s a big moment for him as it’s the first time that he’s been back in full training.” Van Nistelrooy outlined the plan for Yoro’s reintegration: “We will bring him back partially over the coming weeks and look to get him on board as soon as possible.” Additionally, midfielders Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount, and Antony rejoined training sessions after recent periods of absence.
