Nicky Clark has been appointed as the new captain for St Johnstone, a decision that follows his leadership in securing two consecutive victories for the team. Clark had initially assumed the captaincy in the absence of Kyle Cameron, who was sidelined due to injury. He subsequently retained the role for new head coach Simo Valakari’s inaugural match in charge on Saturday. The 33-year-old striker secured the decisive goal against Dundee during the match’s closing stages and is now confirmed to continue leading the team. Cameron had been appointed captain by the previous manager, Craig Levein, following his summer loan move from Notts County. He made his return to the squad at Dens Park. In comments made to club media, Valakari stated: “We had a meeting. “I have been talking privately with Cameron and Clark.”Nicky will continue as captain going forward. There is no drama. I have been so happy with what I have seen so far from Nicky in this role”. The Saints’ recent late victory against Dundee propelled them to sixth place in the Scottish Premiership standings. Valakari expressed his intention to sustain this positive momentum as his squad gets ready to play St Mirren away from home on Wednesday night. He further commented: “”It doesn’t matter that we have won our last two matches, we need to do it again against St Mirren”. Valakari added: “”I have watched St Mirren twice live in the stadium. Once at home and on Sunday at Ibrox.”They are a strong team. They are a very hard-working team and they are very well-coached.”They have power and pace and they can play nice football. They are effective from set-pieces”. Post navigation Football Transfer Rumors: Manchester City, PSG, Manchester United, and Real Madrid Updates Ulster Club Semi-Finals Set for Decisive Matches
