Speculation indicates that rapper A$AP Rocky, whose girlfriend is fellow music star Rihanna, is reportedly part of an investment group. This group, led by celebrity lawyer Joe Tacopina, is said to be interested in taking charge at Tranmere. The suggestion is that Rovers could potentially follow Wrexham’s example by flourishing under celebrity owners from the other side of the Atlantic. Currently, the team’s situation is less optimistic, with Nigel Adkins’ squad working to lift themselves out of the bottom half of League Two. Tranmere occupies the 19th position, maintaining a six-point lead over the relegation zone, having secured only one win in their last nine league games. Furthermore, the Birkenhead club faced a setback in the FA Cup last weekend, suffering a home defeat to National League side Oldham Athletic. Tranmere’s home record this season has been weak, with just one league victory recorded so far. Newport will travel north hoping to add to their opponents’ current struggles.
