Scotland international midfielder Lewis Ferguson has finalized a new contract with Serie A club Bologna, extending his commitment until 2028. The agreement also includes an option for an additional year; however, it remains unspecified whether Bologna or Ferguson possesses the right to activate this extension. The 25-year-old had a standout season last campaign, contributing six goals and five assists, which helped Bologna secure qualification for the Champions League for the first time. His contributions led to him receiving the Bulgarelli Number 8 Award, recognizing him as Serie A’s top midfielder. Nevertheless, a knee injury sustained in April prematurely concluded Ferguson’s season and prevented him from representing Scotland at Euro 2024. Before this, he had been associated with several prominent Italian clubs, such as Juventus, which is currently managed by former Bologna coach Thiago Motta. Ferguson made his return to competitive play this month, appearing twice as a substitute.
