Luton Town defender Mark McGuinness, who joined the club from Cardiff City in August, has declared the team’s readiness for the demanding winter period in the Championship, following a recent home victory against Hull City that alleviated some pressure. McGuinness, who recently made his Republic of Ireland debut during last week’s match against England, which resulted in a defeat, scored the sole goal of the game against Hull City, also known as the Tigers, with a volley. This win propelled Luton to the 16th position in the league standings, preceding their upcoming fixture on Wednesday against league leaders Leeds United. “We’re very much focused on game by game with an important week to come, (starting with) Wednesday night under the lights against a top side – but they’re the games we want to win and games we’re sure we can win. We’ll go there with full confidence,” McGuinness conveyed to BBC Three Counties Radio. The team’s visit to Elland Road will be succeeded by an away match against Norwich City on Saturday, followed by a schedule of six additional fixtures throughout December, concluding the year. McGuinness stated, “This is now where you get the slog, March is the next break for us, so games come thick and fast. It’s important we build momentum now and move forward.” Addressing recent discussions regarding the managerial role of boss Rob Edwards, McGuinness further commented: “He’s always going to get questioned – and everyone in the team’s going to get questioned – when you’re not winning, it’s not nice. But one win changes things, let alone if we go on a nice little run now.” Post navigation Kyle Steyn Expresses Enthusiasm for Return to Play Against Edinburgh at Hampden US Ryder Cup Players to Receive Compensation for Participation
