Leicester Tigers secured their inaugural Women’s Premiership Rugby victory of the season, defeating Sale Sharks 34-17. This result marked Sale Sharks’ seventh consecutive defeat in the Women’s Premiership. Playing at the Salford Community Stadium, the Tigers, as visitors, established a 29-5 advantage by halftime, scoring five of their six tries during the initial half in a match contested between the league’s two lowest-ranked teams. Charlotte Fray opened the scoring for the Tigers in under 60 seconds, though Meg Jones was a standout performer in their maiden win. Jones contributed two impressive solo tries, one in each half, which leaves the Sharks without a point at the bottom after seven games, while Leicester advanced to six points. Elsewhere on Saturday, Harlequins narrowed the gap to leaders Exeter to three points following a 47-26 victory against Trailfinders. The team led by Ross Chisholm has now achieved six consecutive wins, a streak that commenced in mid-October. A total of 11 players scored tries in the game; Kayleigh Powell, Connie Powell, Claudia Pena, Lizzie Hanlon, Jade Konkel, Babalwa Latsha, and Sarah Parry scored for the home team. Lisa Thomson, Grace White, Tyson Beukeboom, and Abby Dow scored for Trailfinders, who have now suffered three consecutive defeats and occupy sixth place in the nine-team league. In another fixture, Saracens halted their two-match losing streak, securing a 32-21 bonus-point win against Loughborough Lightning, with Zoe Harrison contributing 15 points, including a try. Alysha Corrigan, McKinley Hunt, and Fancy Bermudez also scored tries for Saracens, who currently hold third place, four points adrift of Harlequins. Bristol Bears emerged victorious over Gloucester-Hartpury with a 19-14 scoreline, in a rematch of the previous year’s Women’s Premiership final. Courtney Keight, Holly Aitchison, and Phoebe Murray were the try-scorers for Bristol, a team that had previously lost 36-24 to Gloucester at Sandy Park in June.
