Buckmore Park, the karting circuit located near Chatham, Kent, has submitted an application for permission to construct what it characterizes as a motorsport-themed facility. This proposed development, named The Paddock, is envisioned to feature 18 racing simulators, a 120-seat restaurant and sports bar, a conference centre, and a roof terrace offering views of the circuit. The Buckmore Park circuit was formerly owned by the late Formula 1 world champion John Surtees. It is also recognized as the venue where Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Lando Norris, and Ollie Bearman commenced their racing careers. This initiative, which the park projects will generate 30 new employment opportunities, is scheduled for submission to Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council for planning approval. Leonora Martell-Surtees, co-owner and daughter of John Surtees, commented: “The Paddock, with its simulator room, viewing terrace, restaurant and bar, would add an exciting new dimension to what Buckmore offers.” She added, “It will be the ideal place for visitors of all ages to watch Formula 1, World Endurance Championship, Formula E and F1 Academy as well as having the chance to get on track themselves.” Richard Martell-Surtees, also a co-owner, further stated: “If approved we aim to be breaking ground on site in 2026 and open to our first visitors in 2027.”
