Everton supporter David Downie stated that Farhad Moshiri’s exit is “being celebrated a lot more than the new owners coming in”. The British-Iranian businessman concluded his turbulent period overseeing the Toffees on Thursday, having divested his interest in the club to The Friedkin Group in a transaction estimated to exceed £400m. Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside, Downie remarked, “It has been a long time coming.” He further elaborated, “I think Moshiri leaving is being celebrated a lot more than the new owners coming in. This man was not for Everton no matter how much money he had.” Downie expressed some reservation, noting, “It’s been eight years with him in charge which is why I have some caution. I remember when he arrived we all thought he had taken us to the promised land.” He added his belief that the new owners “will not make as much of a disaster out of it as Moshiri did. He did not look like he had any interest in Everton for the past two or three years. He spent some ridiculous money on ridiculous players which led to points deductions and charges.” Downie also commented on the club’s situation, stating, “Everton have dodged a bullet here with with him going and 777 not taking over. We have come to an agreement with a gang of lads who actually like football. They look like the real deal from that regard.” He concluded by saying, “These guys have come in when Everton are in a seriously difficult financial situation and they are going to wipe all that off.” Post navigation Wrexham Seeks Consistency Amidst Squad Rotation for Port Vale Match AFC Sudbury Secures £1.1 Million Grant for New Artificial Pitch
