Following Celtic’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League, supporters were invited to share their perspectives. Below are some of the responses received. A contributor identified as Q remarked, “Despite the loss, Celtic women were 10 times better than against Twente. Probably over for this UWCL, but who knows, future contenders?” Robert commented that it was “Great game for Celtic fans to go up against a great team like Chelsea who are a big side in women’s football.” He added, “Even though we got beat we gave a great show. But it’s just the start for good things to come. Playing against the big women’s teams can only make us better for the future.” Elaine expressed that “Celtic were great in containing Chelsea, a pleasure to be there.” John observed that “Celtic were accomplished in giving Chelsea a run for it.” However, he also stated, “But to be honest I don’t know what the Celtic manager is doing by leaving out Caitlin Hayes who, in my opinion, is the best Celtic player.” Davie highlighted “So many positives for Celtic,” noting that “Bringing on Hayes allowed us to press more in the second half, and if the game had gone on another five minutes we’d have got a point at least.” He further identified Celya Barclais as a “Standout for me,” stating, “She’s come on leaps and bounds since she came to us.”
