Scott Parker, the manager of Burnley, has announced that his team will hold a training session on Christmas Day. This preparation comes ahead of their match on Thursday against Championship leaders Sheffield United. Parker’s squad is currently enjoying a strong streak of nine unbeaten league matches. With a potential victory at Bramall Lane placing the Clarets just a single point behind the Blades, the 44-year-old manager has opted against granting his players time off during the holiday season. Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire, Parker stated, “We’ll be in Christmas Day, we travel Christmas night.” He further elaborated on the plans, adding, “We’ll be in Christmas morning prepping and training. I realise it’s difficult with families but we’ve got a job to do in this moment in time.” Parker emphasized the significance of the upcoming game, remarking, “It’s a huge fixture for both teams really and we go there with a lot of confidence – we go there in a really good place and to go and try to get the three points.” He acknowledged the opponent’s likely mindset, continuing, “No doubt Chris [Wilder] and Sheffield [United] are in a similar place and they’re going to be seeing it likewise but this is the reason we’re in and around it- these big games.”
