Hibernian head coach David Gray addressed members of the media ahead of his team’s Scottish Premiership encounter with Aberdeen. Gray commented that striker Dwight Gayle, who has announced his intention to retire at the conclusion of the current season, has been a “model professional” since joining Hibs. He further elaborated: “We are never going to be able to play him 90 minutes every week. He knew that and we knew that when we signed him. He is already a massive influence in the dressing room in the way he trains and he is a character.” Gray referred to the draw against Aberdeen a couple of weeks prior as a “turning point” in the season to date. However, he is “seeking more consistency” during the second half of the campaign as Hibs aims to create a greater buffer from the relegation zone. With the Edinburgh derby approaching on Boxing Day, Gray affirmed his complete concentration on the Aberdeen game and “ensuring we have the mentality to go up there and win the game”. There are no new injury concerns reported for the trip to Pittodrie. Striker Mykola Kuharevich may be fit enough to participate against Hearts.
