Manchester City defender Kerstin Casparij has committed her future to the club until 2027 by signing a new contract. Casparij stated that manager Gareth Taylor has been instrumental in her growth and expressed her ambition to “become a big name” in the Women’s Super League. The 24-year-old, who arrived from FC Twente in 2022, has established herself as a vital contributor for City during the current season. The Netherlands international full-back conveyed that Manchester City “feels like home” and articulated her desire to contribute to the club’s success in both the WSL and European competitions. “I want to win silverware. I want to develop and hopefully become a big name in the WSL. That’s a big thing for me,” Casparij stated. She added, “I still have my best games ahead of me. The club felt like the right place to be and to stay. It has truly become home.” Casparij also commented, “Moving abroad on my own and living in Manchester has changed me as a person. Playing in such a professional environment helped me massively in becoming who I am.” She further remarked, “I have got a lot more comfortable and confident in the last few years. I’m just generally really enjoying myself.” Gareth Taylor, her club manager, has frequently lauded the Netherlands player as one of the WSL’s premier full-backs. After an initial period of adjustment where she vied for playing time during her first six months, she became a consistent starter as City pursued the WSL title last season. Casparij further stated, “I feel like City is the place to be. Gareth Taylor helps me so much and holds me to high standards. That works out for me. The combination of the aspiration I have, and the club supporting me with that, is just really good.” Casparij indicated her desire to “stay at home a little while longer,” citing both her enjoyment of football and having met her partner in Manchester. She explained, “Whenever I go away with the national team and they ask me about leaving, I say ‘I’m going home, I’m going to Manchester’. To be able to have that stability, to not have to move and to stay here, I think is really special.” Casparij also commented, “The club is very warm. There are a lot of very good people. They have done a good job at bringing great people in to create a family environment. In the city, the people are just really nice up here. I heard it’s a northern thing!” Post navigation Mixed International Results for Luton Town Players Hibernian Coach Gray Discusses Gayle’s Professionalism, Team Consistency, and Upcoming Aberdeen Fixture
