Ryan Barnett, Wrexham’s right-wingback, has voiced his enjoyment of his time at the club, following his recent match-winning goal against Mansfield Town, which continued his impressive run of form. Barnett has emerged as a key player this season for Phil Parkinson’s squad. The team is currently contending for a third consecutive promotion, having seamlessly adapted to life in League One. His goal against Mansfield at the Stok Racecourse was his first of the 2024-25 campaign. This crucial strike secured the victory for Wrexham and kept them within two points of the automatic promotion positions. Despite being linked with Championship clubs Stoke City and Preston in recent months due to his strong performances, the former Solihull Moors player has affirmed his happiness at Wrexham. “I’m loving it. The manager gives me that freedom when I go forward and gives me that confidence to take people on,” Barnett stated. “All the lads have got that belief in me as well.” “I think that’s all you can ask for in football, you want to be confident and you want to be happy and I am in a really good spot at the moment.” In October, Barnett was nominated for the League One player of the month award, having recorded no fewer than five assists, though he ultimately lost out to Peterborough’s Kwame Poku. Mansfield manager Nigel Clough acknowledged Barnett’s offensive threat, with the Stags employing tactics to double-team him at times during the match last Saturday. “They tried to stop me going down the line,” Barnett commented. “But as you saw for the goal, I tried to cut in and I just had a feeling when it left my foot that it was going in.”
