Wrexham is scheduled to commence its FA Cup campaign this Sunday, encountering a well-known adversary. The team, known as The Red Dragons, has previously competed against Harrogate Town ten times since 2016, with these matches spanning the National League, League Two, the FA Trophy, and the FA Cup. Of these encounters, Wrexham has secured three victories, Harrogate two, and five matches have concluded in draws. Their most recent FA Cup match occurred on 6 November 2021. At that time, Wrexham was competing in the National League, while Harrogate was contending for promotion in League Two. Wrexham initially gained the lead with a goal from Jordan Ponticelli, but subsequently conceded two “sloppy goals” in the second half, with substitutes Simon Power and Danilo Orsi scoring for Harrogate, leading to Wrexham’s regret. Following a “Hollywood takeover,” Wrexham has since advanced past Harrogate, now competing in League One. The club aims for a successful cup run this season as it pursues further promotion. Last season, Phil Parkinson’s team reached the fourth round of the competition before being defeated 4-1 by Blackburn Rovers. Wrexham’s most successful FA Cup performance historically was during the 1996-1997 season, when they progressed to the quarter-finals before experiencing a 1-0 loss to Chesterfield. The text notes that “a lot has changed since then.”
