Wrexham eliminated visiting team Crewe Alexandra in the EFL Trophy’s round of 32, following a late header from Aaron James. Mo Faal was the first player to challenge a goalkeeper, unleashing a powerful long-range shot that Crewe’s Filip Marschall managed to field. However, Wrexham’s Brad Foster, making his inaugural appearance at the Stok Racecourse, was soon active, saving a strong volley from Kian Breckin and subsequently thwarting Adrien Thibaut. Crewe, a team from a division below their League One hosts, continued their offensive push after the break. Foster was once again required to be vigilant, making smart saves from Fin Roberts and then Owen Lunt. Nevertheless, with a penalty shoot-out looming, Wrexham clinched the win when Aaron James powerfully headed home a cross from Paul Mullin, marking his first goal for the Dragons.
