Phil Parkinson, who has served as Wrexham’s manager since July 2021, stated that the club’s recent investors will be a “fantastic fit” for the League One team. He also confirmed that he has already held discussions with them regarding their future plans. Wrexham has divested a minority stake in the club to the Allyn family, who previously owned the global medical device firm Welch Allyn for over a century. Eric Allyn, who serves as the manager and chief investment officer for the Allyn family office, and his daughter Kaleen, have already been seen at Wrexham’s Stok Racecourse Ground during the current season. Parkinson remarked, “I’ve met Eric and his daughter Kaleen, and they’re just great people. A fantastic fit for the club.” He added, “They came down to the training ground last week and we had a great chat with them. “They’re so enthusiastic about coming on this journey with the club and the impact they can hopefully make.” The Allyn family now holds an ownership stake in the north Wales club, joining Hollywood figures Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who officially acquired majority ownership of the club in February 2021. The New York-based family divested their company in 2015 and now concentrate on “purpose-driven investments in private and public markets.” Wrexham indicated that this investment, channeled through Red Dragon Ventures LLC, “will help fuel the club’s lofty ambitions, as well as those of the broader Wrexham community.” This involvement could potentially aid Wrexham in securing a third consecutive promotion and establishing the club in the Championship, should they reach that level. However, Parkinson, who has overseen the club’s ascent from the National League to League One under the stewardship of Reynolds and McElhenney, noted that the Allyn family’s commitment extends beyond on-pitch activities. “We talked about the club, the team, the area in general and all the things they’re interested in,” Parkinson explained. He continued, “Like Rob and Ryan, they’ve got a great interest in not just the team on a Saturday afternoon but also the area and the impact on the area. “Anyone in and around Wrexham can see that what Rob and Ryan set out to do was build a football club that could have a knock-on effect for the whole area, and Eric and Kaleen have got a complete buy-in with that.” Wrexham currently occupies the third position in League One, having accumulated 25 points from their initial 13 matches of the current campaign. The team is preparing for an FA Cup fixture on Sunday against League Two Harrogate – a club that eliminated Wrexham from the competition in 2021, which was Parkinson’s inaugural season as manager.
