Readers have shared their perspectives regarding the initial priorities for new Wolves manager Vitor Pereira. Below are some of the submitted comments: Finlay considered the appointment an OK appointment, though a bit risky. He outlined priorities including the aim to stay up, becoming more defensively organised on set-pieces, improving defensive tactics, and signing two monster centre-backs in January that are suited to the Premier League. He also noted the importance of keeping scoring, retaining star players like Matheus Cunha, Joao Gomes, and Rayan Ait-Nouri, and signing some experience. Amar stated that Wolves need revitalising, suggesting that a manager with vigour and aggression could get the team moving up the table. He asserted that it is time for the club to spend some money or seven years will have been wasted, with all eyes firmly on the board. Amar also emphasized that signings need to come at the start of the window and not the end. Simon commented that the new manager needs to get his style and formation across to the players fast, advocating a return to basics and no more information overload as under Gary O’Neil. He called for the defence to be organised and playing as a unit. Simon expressed hope that Pereira picks a system and sticks to it, giving players the time to grow into the new approach, and concluded by stating he is hopeful of this appointment. Stuart highlighted that, as everyone at the club knows, additional defensive strength is paramount, with perhaps two or three of the current squad playing in a different position. Mike identified strengthening the defence, with probably two centre-backs needed, as a priority. He also pointed to the need to get a grip on the lack of discipline shown by some players at the end of the last two games, adding that while passion is needed in the team, it must be shown in the correct manner. Luke stated that priority number one is sorting the defence and set-piece defending, followed by addressing this terrible lack of discipline which has crept in to the squad. Pondering the team’s ability to avoid relegation, he referenced Nuno’s past remark: “To dream is for free.” Luke concluded by noting that while they live in hope, he doesn’t think any Wolves fans expect them to be a Premier League side next season.
