Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly in discussions with Al-Shabab’s manager, Vitor Pereira, regarding the vacant head coach position, following the dismissal of Gary O’Neil by the club on Sunday. The Premier League team, currently facing challenges, seeks to make a prompt appointment. Financial compensation required to bring in Pereira, who previously managed Porto and Olympiakos, is reportedly not a concern for the club. Wolves have been evaluating various candidates and have approached other potential successors, such as former West Ham and Manchester United manager David Moyes. However, according to club sources who spoke to BBC Sport, Pereira is considered the leading contender for the role. Pereira assumed leadership at Al Shabab in February, guiding them to an eighth-place finish in the Saudi Pro League last season. The team currently occupies sixth place, having secured seven victories in 13 matches. The 56-year-old Portuguese coach achieved two Primeira Liga titles with Porto in 2012 and 2013, in addition to winning the Greek Super League with Olympiakos in 2015. The Wolves squad is scheduled to resume training on Tuesday, and there is a possibility that Pereira could be at the helm by that time. His initial match would be Sunday’s away fixture against Leicester, provided that negotiations proceed successfully.
