Simo Valakari emphasized the necessity for St Johnstone to recover following a series of three consecutive defeats. The former Finland international’s tenure began with successive victories against Ross County and Dundee, but these were subsequently followed by a trio of losses against St Mirren, Hearts, and Motherwell. The head coach is now anticipating a strong reaction when his team hosts Kilmarnock next Saturday. “How quickly football can change,” Valakari stated to Saints TV. “We could have got something out of those games we lost, but we didn’t and that’s the reality of where we are.” He added, “We really need to bounce back in front of our home fans [next week] and be ready for that match.” Away from the field, Valakari mentioned that it has been “easy to settle” at the Perth club since his arrival last month. Furthermore, the Saints boss commended the manner in which his players have responded to the strategies he is seeking to introduce. “The players have been very, very open,” he further stated. “It’s not an easy way to play, but the football needs to be fun.”
