Vaclav Cerny expressed his hope that Rangers’ recent League Cup semi-final triumph could initiate “a good run of good games again” as the team’s attention now shifts to European competition. Phillipe Clement’s squad achieved a second-half comeback against Motherwell, securing their place to defend the trophy next month against Celtic in the final at Hampden. Cerny was cautious about looking too far ahead but commented on next month’s encounter: “I think every chance you have to win a trophy is huge for us as players and all the staff.” He added, “It’s so tough to focus on that now because there are so many games, but the dream is there to win it again, definitely, and we’re going to go for it.” However, the team’s immediate focus is on their trip to Greece to face Olympiakos in the Europa League, with Cerny encouraging his teammates to leverage the weekend’s win for “confidence.” The Czech Republic international, who is on loan from Bundesliga club Wolfsburg, stated, “[The win was] very important for confidence, for sticking together to make a good run of good games again.” Regarding the upcoming match, he remarked, “We’re going to prepare for the game in the upcoming days and it’s always been a nice stadium and a nice football environment.” Cerny continued, “So I’m looking forward to that, another country to play in, another big club to play against and we’re going to do everything we can to get a very good result.” He also shared his personal experience, saying, “I have played in places like that already, and I kind of enjoyed it and even though it’s not full of your supporters, it can be a nice experience.”
