Guernsey FC’s defender, Thomas Dodds, described his team’s 4-1 defeat to Uxbridge as “disappointing.” This loss means Guernsey FC has achieved only two wins in their 15 games played this season. Despite the Green Lions entering the match with momentum from their first home victory since March last week, they were outplayed during the initial half. Uxbridge took an early lead in the ninth minute with a goal from Ada Okorogheye. Further goals from Leo Donnellan and Casey Bocarro extended the hosts’ advantage to 3-0 ten minutes before the half-time whistle. Charlton Gauvain managed to score for Guernsey midway through the second half, but James Taylor sealed Uxbridge’s win with another goal 14 minutes before the game concluded. As a result of this defeat, Guernsey remains third-from-bottom in the Isthmian League South Central, trailing safety by five points. “It was disappointing,” Dodds communicated to BBC Radio Guernsey. He added, “After last week’s home win, we really wanted to kick on and build on it, but 3-0 down at half time and the game’s gone already.” Dodds further stated, “We’re all very disappointed with how we performed today – second half had some positives, but it was a bit too late by then unfortunately.” He emphasized the team’s individual performance, saying, “No one can look at themselves and say that they won their individual battle.” Dodds attributed the first-half struggles to the opposition, noting, “They outran us, they were more physical and it was a very poor first half.” Concluding his remarks, he acknowledged, “The plus was the response, but we know that you can’t just perform for one half, you’ve got to put it together for the whole game.”
