American consortium COH Sports has officially finalized its acquisition of Sheffield United, a club that has played three of the last five seasons in the Premier League. The group is headed by businessmen Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, both of whom will assume roles as co-chairmen on the Blades’ board. Rosen holds the position of founder and chairman at Resilience Capital Partners, while Eltoukhy serves as chairman of the biotech firm Guardant Health. This transaction concludes the five-year tenure of Saudi Arabian Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as the sole proprietor of the Bramall Lane club. Chris Wilder’s team currently leads the Championship standings, holding a three-point advantage over Leeds United. Under the terms of the agreement, COH Sports gains full 100% control over both the men’s and women’s football teams, the hotel situated at Bramall Lane, and all associated real estate assets. In an official statement, the consortium affirmed that the new ownership fully supports Chris Wilder and the club’s CEO, Stephen Bettis, expressing confidence in establishing an optimal framework for the club’s prosperity. Rosen and Eltoukhy, who expressed feeling “honoured and humbled” to acquire one of the EFL’s most historic clubs, articulated their ambition for the Blades to return to the Premier League expeditiously. They conveyed to the club’s website, external: “Like all Blades fans we want to see the club competing in the top-flight of English football consistently, not just on a one-off basis, and we have been encouraged by the strong start to this season.” They further stated: “The team has been performing strongly and we are committed to supporting the management team to continue this progress.” The new owners also conveyed: “We want to take this chance to assure the supporters that we understand the huge responsibility that comes with owning Sheffield United. The club is rooted in the fabric of this great city and our fans are the beating heart who back the team no matter what. ” Concluding their remarks, they added: “Our fans will be at the heart of what COH stands for, and we are deeply committed to ensuring Sheffield United is accessible and affordable for our supporters.”
