Will Jenkins Davies, who returned to Torquay on loan in September after scoring eight goals in 36 appearances for the Gulls last season, has been described by Torquay United manager Paul Wotton as one of the most dedicated players he has ever worked with. The 20-year-old player, who has netted four goals in his last three league matches for Wotton’s team, has prolonged his loan period at Plainmoor through the end of the current season. This marks his second tenure at Torquay, following an initial spell last season that was cut short due to an injury. Speaking to BBC Radio Devon, Wotton commented on Jenkins Davies’ qualities: “His desire and his work rate is as good as I’ve ever seen.” He added, “Getting him off the training ground’s a hardship, he wants to stay out there all the time.” Wotton also noted, “He’s an infectious character as well and he’s hit a bit of form at the minute.” Concluding his remarks, the manager stated, “He’s got everything – he can to have a career in football at whatever level.” This season, Jenkins Davies has contributed four goals and four assists across 19 appearances for Torquay, playing a role in their ascent to the top position in National League South. His current form has drawn attention from Plymouth Argyle head coach Wayne Rooney, who remarked: “He’s someone who I really liked in pre-season from an attitude point of view.” The Argyle boss further explained the decision for the loan: “He’d been out on loan before so we felt it was better for him to go out on loan and get another experience and I think he’s doing really well.” Rooney concluded, “He’s scored a few goals, a few assists, so I think it was a way for him to continue to play for the rest of the season and gain that experience and hopefully come back stronger.” Post navigation Chelsea’s Defensive Performance Draws Fan Scrutiny Goalkeeper Brian Maher Extends Contract with Derry City
