Luke Williams conveyed his disappointment and frustration regarding Swansea City’s performance against Sunderland, as his team once again failed to overcome a promotion contender. The 3-2 loss to the Black Cats on Saturday means the Swans have now been defeated by each of the Championship’s current top six teams this season: Sheffield United, Leeds United, Burnley, Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers, and Middlesbrough. Following another challenging match against a side aspiring to reach the Premier League, Williams will likely be hoping for a more positive outcome when his team next plays against an opponent situated at the bottom of the league table. Swansea is scheduled to travel to last-place Hull City on Saturday for a 12:30 GMT kick-off, aiming to extend the Tigers’ ongoing poor run of form. Hull has secured only three victories in their 21 league matches this season and has not registered a win in their last 13 Championship fixtures. This poor performance led to Tim Walter’s dismissal earlier this month. Since Ruben Selles was appointed as head coach on 6 December, the team has managed to accumulate just one point from a possible nine. With only two matches remaining before the halfway point of the league campaign, Hull has recorded the fewest home wins of any Championship side this term, with only one victory at home. Their total of eight points gained at the MKM Stadium represents the worst home return among the 24 teams in the division. Additionally, only West Bromwich Albion has scored fewer than Hull’s tally of nine goals at home in the league this season. As for the Swans, they have not suffered a defeat against any side currently below 13th place in the Championship this season. Williams understands that this record must be maintained against Hull if his team is to demonstrate their capability to push towards the play-off positions once more.
