Sussex batter Tom Haines has finalized a new contract with the club, extending his tenure until at least the close of 2027. This follows a season where Haines recorded three centuries and two half-centuries. During the previous season, Haines accumulated 819 runs with an average of 40.95, contributing to Sussex’s victory in the County Championship Division Two title. The 26-year-old, a left-handed opener, emerged from the Sussex youth program, having made his first-class debut for the team at the age of 17. Haines expressed his satisfaction, stating, “I’m really pleased to have signed a new contract.” He added, “It was great to be scoring runs last year and helping the team win Division Two.” Haines further commented on the club’s trajectory, saying, “The club is going in a good direction and I am looking forward to the next few seasons which can hopefully bring some more silverware.” Sussex’s 2025 County Championship season is scheduled to commence in early April, with their initial fixture back in Division One being an away match against Warwickshire.
