Super League club Castleford Tigers have announced the signing of utility back Daejarn Asi from Parramatta Eels. Asi made his NRL debut for North Queensland Cowboys in 2020 and has since accumulated 42 appearances in the league. The 24-year-old player’s move to the West Yorkshire club during the close season mirrors that of his former team-mate Zac Cini, who also made the switch from Sydney. Danny Wilson, the director of rugby operations, commented on the signing to the club website, stating, “Daejarn is a very exciting young player who has plenty of NRL experience already.” Asi, capable of playing as a centre, stand-off, or half-back, secured his Samoa debut in 2023 and joins Castleford on a two-year contract. His career history includes stints with North Queensland Cowboys and New Zealand Warriors prior to his transfer to the Eels last year.
