Stoke City manager Narcis Pelach has stressed the importance of his team remaining positive following a series of closely contested matches that have resulted in a three-game losing streak. The team, known as the Potters, has encountered particular difficulty in the second half of games, having conceded nearly twice as many goals after the half-time whistle compared to the first half. Specifically, in 20 Championship games to date, they have allowed nine goals in the first half and 17 after the break. Prior to the upcoming match against Cardiff City on Saturday, Pelach instructed his players not to focus on their previous outcomes. “We cannot feel sorry for ourselves – I don’t want this in my game – so we need to get over ourselves,” Pelach stated during an interview with BBC Radio Stoke. He added, “Sometimes through losses, you can find opportunities to learn and improve things for the future. And this is what I’m doing.” The average age of Stoke’s matchday squads ranks as the second youngest in the Championship, with only Sunderland having a younger average. Although the Potters’ manager acknowledges his team’s lack of experienced players, he contends that his personal experience as a 36-year-old manager demonstrates their capacity to remain competitive. Pelach further commented, “I’ve had to fight for everything in my life. I’m used to fighting, nothing has come easy.” He continued, “My mentality is there, I know how to live this profession and I want to explain this to my players as well.” Concluding his remarks, he stated, “We can be young. I just want courage, I want passion, I want love and I want energy. Step by step, I’m sure we will get there.”
