Steven Caulker has stated that his former club, Tottenham, is “actually struggling” this season, noting they “defensively fell apart” during Sunday’s loss to Chelsea. Tottenham squandered a 2-0 advantage, ultimately losing 4-3 to their rivals, a result that places Ange Postecoglou’s team 11th in the Premier League after securing only two victories in their last seven lague games. Speaking on Sportsworld on the BBC World Service, Caulker remarked, “There seems to be a real lack of consistency around Spurs.” He elaborated, stating, “They go away and beat Man City 4-0 and then they struggle during the week. “[Against Chelsea] they looked to be off to a flier and it just defensively fell apart from them. Defensive errors have cost them dearly. “The league table isn’t a pretty sight. ” Caulker further assessed the situation, saying, “Overall I feel Tottenham are actually struggling this year. The pressure is building because they spent some money. They’ve made a few additions to the squad [but] unfortunately, this high press only works if you’re not conceding. “He acknowledged their strengths, adding, “They’re certainly good at the top end. We saw that. In moments, they were good. “However, he concluded, “But, at the other end they’re just making too many mistakes. Chelsea at the end came away worthy winners.” Post navigation Ulster’s Carson Reflects on Childhood Friendships and Team Challenges Experts Discuss Impact of Southampton’s First Premier League Win
