St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson has indicated that the club faces an uphill battle in securing new contracts for defender Richard Taylor and striker Toyosi Olusanya. Both players will become eligible to engage with other clubs starting in January. Their current contracts are set to expire next summer. Striker Olusanya received a contract offer in October that would have positioned him among the club’s highest-paid players. Despite subsequent improved offers extended to both Olusanya and Taylor, no agreement has been finalized. Manager Robinson stated, “No, there’s been no progress on that at the moment.” He continued, “We’ve made further offers to both players, but it looks at this moment in time that we probably won’t be able to come to an agreement, which we respect.” Robinson added, “We know both boys will give absolutely everything. We won’t give up. We’re still very early.” He concluded, “We’ll see where we are come the end of January, if we can go any further than that, but they’re very good offers for the football club so I’m not sure we can.” Robinson mentioned that the club has “drawn a line” under a challenging period during which Kevin van Veen, Shaun Rooney, and Jaden Brown had their contracts terminated following separate criminal proceedings. “It was a situation nobody wanted to be in and it was a tough period,” he commented. “We were a small squad and then we were reduced by another three players, first-team players, not boys on the outskirts of things. It’s tough to deal with, but the squad have adapted to that.” New left-back Declan John is a potential candidate to make his debut against Aberdeen on Saturday, and Robinson is also considering additional player acquisitions in January. “We’ve got people in mind, people we’ve spoken to,” he stated. “Obviously we’re trying to build that squad back up again after the loss of three players.” Post navigation Referee’s Decision to Allow Play Praised in Hibs’ Goal Analysis SWPL: Your Feedback on the Action
