Eamon O’Carroll, who played for Wigan, Hull FC, and Widnes during his career, has been named assistant coach by St Helens. He previously served as head coach for the Bradford Bulls. The 37-year-old, a former Ireland international, guided the Bulls to a third-place finish in the Championship during the 2024 season before departing the club at the campaign’s conclusion. For the 2025 season, O’Carroll marks the second addition to the Saints’ coaching staff under head coach Paul Wellens, following Lee Briers’ earlier appointment as an assistant. “I’m really excited and honoured to be joining a club of the stature of St Helens,” O’Carroll told the club website. He also stated, “I think Lee and I work very similar, we are about high energy and want to get a buzz around the boys, help them develop and drive standards.” O’Carroll further commented, “We all had a meeting the other day and spoke about a few things, I got such good vibes immediately, so we’ll work really well together.”
