South Africa Rests Marizanne Kapp for England T20 Series

All-rounder Marizanne Kapp, who has scored 1,622 runs and taken 88 wickets in 113 T20 matches for South Africa, has been rested by the South Africa World Cup finalists for their upcoming T20 series with England. The Proteas are scheduled to host Heather Knight’s side from 24 November for ODI and T20 series, each consisting of three matches, followed by a single Test match. Kapp, 34, is set to rejoin the squad for the 50-over fixtures, while the Test squad will be announced at a later date. This T20 series marks South Africa’s first appearance since their defeat to New Zealand in the World Cup final last month. Their selectors have added all-rounders Eliz-Mari Marx and Nondumiso Shangase, along with batter Faye Tunnicliffe, to the tournament squad. Seamer Ayabonga Khaka has also been rested, all-rounder Seshnie Naidu will be unavailable for the series due to school exams, and wicketkeeper Mieke de Ridder has been omitted. For England, this will be their first series since their elimination from the World Cup in the group stage. The touring party has dropped all-rounder Alice Capsey for the Test and T20 segments of the tour. She has been replaced by batter Paige Scholfield, who is in contention for her third T20 cap in the series opener in East London, located on South Africa’s south-eastern coast.
