Burnley manager Scott Parker has stated that it remains premature in the current season to become complacent regarding the team’s strong performance and their position in the Championship standings. Following Sunday’s 2-1 comeback victory against Norwich City, the third-placed Clarets have now extended their league unbeaten streak to eight matches, positioning them just one point shy of the automatic promotion spots. Despite having completed 21 games, marking more than half of their league campaign, Parker acknowledges the potential for considerable challenges ahead and believes his squad still has room for improvement. “It’s a good platform but I don’t take any notice of it, it’s about us and the team we want to be,” Parker informed BBC Radio Lancashire. He added, “We need to worry about and focus on ourselves – the second-half is a performance and a group that will put is in good stead.” Burnley’s most recent league loss occurred at Millwall in early November, and since then, they have secured five wins and three draws in their subsequent eight fixtures. “It’s still really early and we’re nudging away and we need to keep improving,” Parker further commented. Burnley is scheduled to host seventh-placed Watford this Saturday, followed by a Boxing Day away match against league leaders Sheffield United.
