Ross County’s most recent Premiership away victory occurred in September 2023, with Simon Murray scoring the decisive goal against Kilmarnock. Manager Don Cowie has urged his Ross County squad to capitalize on their recent positive form by concluding their 14-month absence of a Premiership away triumph. This season, the Staggies have secured only two points from a possible twelve in their away fixtures, extending their winless streak on the road to 21 matches since their 1-0 success at Kilmarnock in September last year. Nevertheless, they are preparing to confront St Mirren on Saturday, encouraged by a recent victory against Killie and a draw with Hibs, both of which took place in Dingwall. Manager Cowie stated, “I don’t think there’s any perfect place because any venue you go to is a difficult game but every away game is an opportunity to finish that run that we’re on.” He further remarked, “We’re well aware the results haven’t been good enough. Some of the performances have been good.” Cowie added, “This year we’ve gone away to Hearts and Motherwell and got two really good points. It’s not just about winning, it’s about putting in a good performance at a difficult venue.” The 41-year-old Staggies manager commended St Mirren’s “fantastic” manager Stephen Robinson, acknowledging the challenge of facing his “powerful team.” Cowie commented, “Stephen has done a great job at St Mirren.” He continued, “They had a fantastic season last year. They’re a really strong, powerful team, they make you defend, they’ve got a lot of threats.” Cowie concluded, “We need to be ready for that, they’ll be buoyed by their win [on Wednesday] but we’re in a good place and we’re looking forward to it.”
