The Parc des Princes, home to Paris St-Germain since 1974, will undergo a partial closure for the upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against Toulouse next month. This measure serves as a penalty for homophobic chanting by the club’s supporters. The incident prompting this action took place on 19 October during PSG’s 4-2 home victory over Strasbourg, when fans directed chants at Marseille midfielder Adrien Rabiot. Rabiot, a France international, played for PSG from 2012 to 2019 before moving to rivals Marseille on a free transfer in September, following his release by Juventus. Eight days after the Strasbourg match, PSG faced Marseille, securing a 3-0 win at the Stade Velodrome. In an official statement, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) announced that PSG is required to close the Auteuil stand. This section, located behind the goal, is traditionally occupied by several of the club’s ultra fan groups. However, the enforcement of this sanction is scheduled to commence on 5 November, meaning PSG’s Ligue 1 game against Lens this weekend will proceed without any restrictions. Consequently, PSG will be compelled to close a section of their stadium for the match against Toulouse on 22 November. This follows a previous incident last season, where four PSG players received one-match suspensions for their involvement in offensive chants after a win against Marseille.
