Torquay United manager Paul Wotton expressed his “delight” with his team’s “professional” approach in their 1-0 triumph over Hemel Hempstead, a win that secured their top spot in National League South. Cody Cooke’s penalty, his first goal in four games for Torquay United, was the sole score of the match, played before an audience of more than 3,700 fans at Plainmoor. This victory extended the Gulls’ lead over Truro City to two points at the summit of the league standings. The two clubs are scheduled to face each other at Plainmoor on New Year’s Day. Speaking to BBC Radio Devon, Wotton stated, “I’m delighted with the three points, delighted with the clean sheet.” He further elaborated on the match, saying, “I thought it was a really tough game. I thought we were off it physically in the first half, I’m convinced the first six games of the season we lose that game, but we found a way to win.” Wotton acknowledged areas for improvement but praised his side’s tenacity, adding, “We know we can be better, but I thought we showed a brilliant resilience.” He concluded by describing the performance: “I just thought we were efficient, professional, I think that’s a really good 1-0 win, a really good result, I’m really pleased.” Post navigation Scottish Football Gossip: Butland’s Title Race Defiance and Gerrard’s Past Interest in Beale Scotland’s Key Players’ Contribution Examined Following Goalless Euro 2025 Play-off Draw
