Des Buckingham, the manager of Oxford, expressed satisfaction with his team’s successful adoption of an altered tactical approach during their 1-0 triumph against Hull City on Tuesday evening. This win concluded an eight-match period without a victory for Buckingham’s squad, a streak the coach was eager to recontextualize. Speaking to BBC Radio Oxford, Buckingham stated, “This year is about making sure we pick up points as we go and we’ve managed to do that in seven of our last nine games.” He further commented on the match, saying, “It’s a different type of performance with a very different set up to what we’re used to which was the pleasing thing that got the result.” Prior to defeating Hull, Oxford had experienced consecutive losses, which led the manager to implement a tactical modification. Buckingham elaborated on the preparation, explaining, “We did a bit of work on that formation and shape last week to make sure we didn’t have to throw it all at the players this week if we wanted to change to it.” He added, “We put a lot more detail around that when we trained (on Monday) and the players took it on board very well.” Post navigation Aston Villa’s Squad Strength Undermines Current League Position Celtic Fans Reflect on Champions League Draw, Citing Missed Opportunity and Upcoming Final
