Omer Riza, the interim manager for Cardiff City since late September, stated that the club’s atmosphere is “like a big pressure cooker ready to explode” after their 2-0 loss at home to Queens Park Rangers. Although Riza secured four victories, two draws, and one defeat in his initial seven matches at the helm, the Bluebirds are currently positioned only one point and one spot above the Championship relegation zone. Following that initial positive period, Riza, a London native, has witnessed his team collect only one point from their most recent four fixtures. The status of Riza’s long-term position with the club is still uncertain, and he reaffirmed his stance of awaiting a decision from the board. Riza commented, “Everyone thinks I’ve got to win every game and that’s how I’m feeling, it’s stressful.” He continued, “It’s part and parcel of being a manager to take responsibility and I’ve done that, I won’t shirk that responsibility, I’ve worked really hard to get to this point in my career. “I’m not going to sit here and hammer the players, we beat ourselves today and we will fix that.”” He further added, “I want to protect the boys and the staff, because it’s a tough position that we are in. There’s a lot of pressure, it’s like a big pressure cooker ready to explode.” Zan Celar’s initial goals of the current season secured all three points for QPR in the Welsh capital on Wednesday evening, moving them away from the foot of the league standings. Cardiff maintained nearly 70% of possession during the match, yet for significant durations, their offensive opportunities were restricted to shots from distance and speculative attempts. Riza also stated, “I am trying to steer the club into a direction that makes all of us happy going home, the fans, the players, the club, the staff.” He elaborated, “I’m managing all of that at the moment, because it was a right mess [when I took over].” Riza observed, “The players are disappointed right now. They are sat in the dressing room and they are quiet, angry at each other. “Sometimes it just doesn’t happen. This game was not a game we’ve lost because we weren’t good enough. We didn’t do things the way we needed to, to score the goals.”” When questioned about his future, Riza indicated that only those in higher authority could provide an answer, but he expressed confidence that his performance warranted securing the manager’s role permanently. Riza remarked, “I’ve had a good audition as far as I’m concerned.” He continued, “I’m a fighter and I believe that’s what this club needs. Now it’s down to the board to make a decision moving forwards.” Riza affirmed, “I’m going to continue with the job, continue working hard. You (the media) are probably bored but I’m not going to give any different answers.” He concluded, “I’m also not going to change. I’m going to make sure the team is in a good place, working hard, playing good football and winning games.” Post navigation Aaron Lennon Discusses Tottenham’s Tactical Approach Ahead of Manchester City Match Matheus Cunha’s Defining Goal: A Memorable Moment for Wolves Supporters
