A club statement announced that Walsall Wood FC, a non-league football club, has withdrawn from its league. The reasons cited for this decision are insufficient funds and a “lack of communication from its owner.” Ian Sylvester, the club’s vice chairman, and Casey Boswell, its secretary, confirmed that the team would exit the Northern Premier League immediately. The league confirmed it had formally accepted the resignation, expressing “great sadness.” The BBC has sought to establish contact with the owner involved. This announcement followed the resignation of manager Ian Long earlier this month due to unpaid wages. Walsall Wood currently occupies the tenth position in the league standings, notwithstanding the postponement of its last three games. The club’s statement conveyed gratitude to league committee members “for their support and understanding during these challenging times” and indicated that the decision was reached with “deep regret.” The club’s operations will now be managed by its grassroots division, which oversees boys’ and girls’ teams participating in various leagues. The statement further asserted, “We remain committed to providing a positive environment for young players and will work diligently to ensure the club remains a valuable asset to the community.” Supporters were advised that their season tickets would still be honored for Walsall Wood Ladies, Under-21, and Under-18 fixtures. Additionally, local clubs Chasetown and Rushall Olympic have stated they will accept season tickets purchased prior to the season’s commencement.
