Nick Cushing, who previously managed Manchester City Women to four major trophies, appears to have withdrawn himself from consideration for the Arsenal women’s managerial position. Cushing, an early candidate to succeed Jonas Eidevall, stated during a pre-match news conference that he anticipates remaining with his current Major League Soccer (MLS) team next season. “The whole story is news to me,” Cushing commented. He added, “There has been no contact from anybody outside this organisation with myself. I can confirm I will be here next year.” Arsenal, known as “The Gunners,” continues to evaluate potential candidates and has not yet conducted any interviews for the role. Last week, the club announced that interim manager Renee Slegers would continue in her position until at least December. The 39-year-old Cushing is presently managing his team through the best-of-three MLS Cup play-offs against Cincinnati. With each side having secured one victory, the winner of Saturday’s decisive match will advance to the semi-finals. The MLS Cup final is scheduled for 7 December.
