Leadership changes have been announced for Motherwell Football Club and The Well Society. Kyrk Macmillan, a businessman in the fashion industry, has been named the new chairman of Motherwell Football Club. His father-in-law serves on the board of Hertha Berlin. Macmillan, who hails from East Kilbride and began attending games with his father and grandfather three decades ago, holds the position of chief executive for the Scottish brand Bee Inspired. He has also collaborated on commercial initiatives with leading clubs in England and Denmark. Speaking to the club’s official website, he stated that he already maintains a strong working relationship with The Well Society, the fan ownership group. He commented, “The Well Society elections and the publication of the vision document – ‘Our Club, Our Future’ – has shown that we have an incredibly skilled and energised community, and we must ensure we provide a platform and culture of unity, and which brings that to fruition.” Joining Macmillan on the executive board are Greg Anderson, a chief executive in digital marketing, and Professor Grant Jarvie, who is the director of academy sport at the University of Edinburgh and has previously collaborated with clubs such as Barcelona. Concurrently, Philip Speedie, a programme manager within the Scottish financial sector and a former stadium announcer, has been elected to serve as the chair of The Well Society.
