Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah took another step in his recovery from injury by playing for the club’s Under-21 team in their 3-2 victory over Burnley on Monday. The 29-year-old was substituted at half-time, marking his first appearance since August 27 as he gradually works his way back to full fitness. The Chelsea academy product has encountered fitness issues since joining Wednesday on a free transfer in July. He has only featured once for the senior squad, starting in their 5-1 EFL Cup win against Grimsby Town, where he sustained a calf injury an hour into the contest. Devlan Moses scored two goals for the Owls, with Rio Shipston’s deflected strike also finding the net. Young midfielder Shipston had replaced Chalobah at the break. Tommy McDermott and Joe Westley registered goals for the Clarets at Middlewood Training Ground.
