Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes stated his team delivered “a performance and a half” to secure “brilliant three points.” Despite playing with 10 men for the entire 90 minutes against Hearts following Robbie Deas’ early red card, the Rugby Park side found themselves in a favorable position after Bruce Anderson converted a penalty. McInnes attributed this outcome to “ridiculously good effort.” He elaborated on the necessity of such an effort when playing short-handed, stating: “Any time you go down to 10 men you need to give a performance and a half. We had to play the game a certain way. We had to stay within our shape.” Praising his players, McInnes remarked: “The boys were magnificent. We’re having to work too hard too often this season because of the red cards but there’s only positives today.” He further highlighted the team’s offensive prowess despite the numerical disadvantage: “We had the best chances in the game. We had the most shots on target, even with 10 men I thought we had some brilliant moments. It was a great performance with 10 men.” Concluding, McInnes underscored the significance of the victory: “Some three points are better than others but that feels like a brilliant three points.”
