Dungannon Swifts currently trail league leaders Linfield by 11 points. Manager Rodney McAree stated that his team felt “hugely frustrated” after failing to secure any points in their 1-0 Premiership loss to Linfield on Tuesday. Joel Cooper’s second-half goal extended David Healy’s side’s advantage to 11 points over the second-placed Swifts at the top of the league standings. McAree commented, “There’s a massive amount of disappointment in the changing room and I think that’s positive. We’re hugely frustrated we didn’t get something out of the game.” He further stated, “We felt as if our performance was good. We didn’t ask Linfield enough questions in the first half but we did better in the second half, we caused a few more problems.” “We created a few opportunities and could have scored a goal and got a result,” McAree added. The Swifts’ boss expressed his belief that his team could have defended the decisive goal more effectively. Addressing the goal, McAree remarked, “Joel turns us probably too easily. He’s a quality player and that’s why other clubs are maybe looking at him. He gets his strike away, we should do better to stop the shot and then it rolls into the corner.” He concluded by saying, “It’s a disappointing goal to concede and it’s a disappointing goal to lose the game to.”
