Matty Hurst, who made his first-class debut for Lancashire in September 2023, has signed a new three-year contract to remain with the club until the conclusion of the 2027 season. The 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batter experienced a notable summer with the Red Rose, participating in every Championship and T20 Blast match. This included scoring his maiden hundred in a game against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge in May. “I am over the moon to sign a new contract with my home county and to commit to Lancashire for at least the next three seasons,” he informed the club website. Despite Lancashire’s relegation to Division Two, Hurst accumulated 677 runs in the Championship, achieving one century and five half-centuries. His performance led to his selection for England Lions this winter, and he is currently in Australia preparing to play for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash. He stated, “It was great to play so much first-team cricket last season in the County Championship and T20.” Hurst added, “Thankfully, I was able to take my opportunity and showcase what I can do.” He further commented, “I am looking forward to the winter and improving my game. Hopefully I can develop my skills further and bring that back to Lancashire next summer as we look to go straight back up into Division One and have a strong season in the Blast.” Post navigation Cardiff Devils Secure Decisive Victory Over Sheffield Steelers Kilmarnock Manager Derek McInnes Discusses 1-1 Draw Against Dundee
