Ruben Dias, a Manchester City defender who has been instrumental in the club’s Premier League triumphs during each of his initial four seasons, stated that the reigning Premier League champions “embrace” the “challenge” presented by their recent series of defeats. The defeat on Saturday at Brighton signifies that the four-time defending champions have now suffered four consecutive losses across all competitions, a situation not encountered since 2006. “These times are never welcome in a dressing room like ours,” Dias informed BBC Sport. “Even though they’re not welcome, we do know they’re part of it, especially when we’ve won so much.” Manchester City currently trails league leaders Liverpool by five points as they head into the international break. Their subsequent two league matches are scheduled against Tottenham and Liverpool. The 27-year-old Portugal international further commented, “It’s normal that times like this come, mostly because so many people want to take us down. We accept it, we embrace it, that’s part of the challenge. That’s why we love it so much. If not for this, our wins wouldn’t be as big as they are. It’s the life we live and we love it for it. We just keep on doing what we do best.”
